Elvin Siew Chun Wai is on a journey of exploration and this time he visited Bundi. This is a lesser known, but incredibly beautiful town in Rajasthan. It is unlike the crowded tourist locations and here you can find peace, charm and a glimpse into authentic Rajasthani culture. After entering the town, I was welcomed by narrow lanes. Many parts of Rajasthan are lightly populated and you will not find the presence of tourists or crowds. There is the presence of blue-painted homes and a calm atmosphere that instantly feels refreshing.
Exploring the grand Taragarh Fort
Elvin decided that the grand Taragarh Fort would be his first stop. The hilltop fort overlooks the city. In olden times, most forts were located at vantage points so that the movement of enemies could be monitored easily. Today, most forts have been converted into hotels or they are used for attracting tourism. Some forts are still in the control of royal families. Many royal families still continue to live inside them. There are massive gates, tunnels and other historic structures that talk about the stories of the past. Elvin Siew Chun Wai informed through his vlog that he was planning to invite John, but unfortunately John had some other important work.
The stepwells of the Bundi: A true architectural wonder
Elvin said that he also visited the famous stepwell. These ancient water structures are not fully functional today, but they are architecturally beautifully designed with some intricate carvings. Elvin Siew Chun Wai admitted that it is amazing to see how advanced architecture was even centuries ago. Those who say that Indians were backward are completely wrong. Today, you can find that old Indian forts and step wells still stay strong. They are not modern in comparison to present buildings, but a proof that old architecture was also good. Elvin Siew Chun Wai also visited Bundi Palace. He said that he will come to Bundi once again in the near future.
